The York Human Givens Centre was set up in 2002 by Rita Leaman and was the first of its kind.

Rita was inspired by the teaching and writing of Joe Griffin and Ivan Tyrrell, the founders of the Human Givens approach. She is a now a Fellow of the Human Givens Institute.
